We're very pleased to share that The Siena School is bringing the short animated film What is dyslexia? from global charity Made By Dyslexia to its campuses this Dyslexia Awareness Month. In partnership with the DC Capital Area Branch of the International Dyslexia Association, we’ll be hosting special film screenings on campus on Wednesday, October 21, for an evening community event.
The film aims to change the story of dyslexia for children and families by showing the remarkable strengths of Dyslexic Thinking. It also highlights that dyslexic brains process information differently, resulting in both challenges — such as spelling, reading, and writing — and strengths, including problem solving, imagination, and storytelling.
Siena will be co-hosting the October 21 screening with DC-IDA. Our panelists will include:
- Jacquelyn Davis, Founder, Clever Noodle (DC-IDA Board member)
- ShaMaar Blount, Ed.D., Elementary Educator KIPP-DC (DC-IDA Board member)
What is dyslexia? tells a balanced, empowering story of dyslexia — one every child deserves to hear.
