Shantel Elessie

Shantel Elessie, school counselor, is a dedicated Licensed Clinical Professional Art Therapist (ATR-BC, LCPAT) in Maryland. She has a Bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania State University and a Masters degree from Drexel University. For over 15 years, she has facilitated groups, individual sessions, and workshops. Her goal is to support students in navigating challenges, building self-awareness, excelling academically, and leading with confidence. Shantel loves to facilitate a mindful process that creates a safe space to foster creative expression, engage the mind, body, and spirit, and empower transformation. She is committed to strengths-based, student-centered approaches for behavioral support that help students grow into their full potential. Art-based interventions are a form of self-expression that encourages creativity, self-awareness, and authenticity. Integrating creative therapeutic approaches enhances expressive communication, problem-solving and a growth mindset. She helps students identify their strengths, build coping strategies, and improve executive functioning skills. Ms. Elessie values collaboration and believes meaningful change happens when educators, families, and community providers work together in partnership.
