Jack Lewis, arts department chair and music teacher, received his B.A in Music and Physics from Wesleyan University in 2015, his M.A in Music Education from Columbia Teachers College in 2021, and his Ed.M. in Music Education from Columbia Teachers College in 2022. Jack was a professional musician in Boston, MA, for five years where he worked as a songwriter, performer, and recording engineer. He plays a multitude of instruments, but guitar and piano are his main specialty. He founded a band that toured across the U.S in cities such as New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, St. Louis, Washington, DC, and many others. After five years on the road, Jack moved into education and enrolled in graduate school. He performed his student teaching in New York City public schools for grades K-12, and after earning his M.A and Ed.M., moved to the DC area. When he is not teaching or playing music, Jack enjoys basketball and ultimate frisbee, as well as a weekly board game night with friends and family.
Why I Teach At Siena: I am passionate about active, creative, and authentic music making in the classroom where students can follow their interests and showcase their strengths and creativity. Siena is a place where I feel empowered to do that, both by the staff, and Siena students.
