Pinki Shah, middle school social studies teacher, joins Siena from Sandy Spring Friends School, where she spent a decade teaching 5th through 7th grades. Before her time at Sandy Spring, she taught at two independent schools in New York City for eight years. Pinki has shared her curriculum at three Progressive Education Network Conferences and the New York State Association of Independent Schools Conference, and her work has been featured in The Global Education Toolkit book. She has also lived briefly at the Gandhi Ashram in India, where she produced a documentary on child labor and ran a non-formal school for local children. Prior to her teaching career, Pinki worked with various nonprofits on women's rights and child labor issues. She holds an M.A. from Teachers College, Columbia University and a B.S. from Towson University.  

Why I Teach At Siena: As a parent of a dyslexic child, I deeply understand the remarkable talents and potential our kids possess, despite their learning differences. It is truly an honor for me to recognize and nurture that brilliance, helping them become confident advocates and agents of change.
