Hollis Hyland

Hollis Hyland, reading teacher, has been an educator for the past twenty years, with thirteen years teaching middle school English and seven years coaching teachers and leaders in literacy, grades K-12. She taught 7th grade ELA in Atlanta Public Schools as a Teach For America corps member and then taught 8th and 6th grade ELA in Boston at Excel Academy and Boston Collegiate, respectively. After moving to Washington, DC, she taught 6th grade ELA at DC Preparatory Academy, where she was also the lead curriculum planner and grade-level leader. Most recently, she was an ELA instructional coach with TenSquare, supporting teachers and leaders at multiple DC charter schools through direct classroom coaching, curriculum support, and leading professional development. Hollis holds a B.A. in English and Spanish from Hamilton College and an M.Ed. in Learning and Teaching from Harvard University.
