Kyo Freeman, middle school math teacher, has a BA in History from Oberlin College and an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from the University of North Florida. He is entering his 20th year of teaching. Most of his career was spent in independent schools in Ohio, Florida, and the DMV area, including Green Acres School in Rockville. After 18 years in middle and high school classrooms, Kyo switched careers and worked as a real estate agent in DC and Maryland. Last year, he returned to education as an elementary resource teacher, helping students with reading and math. He lives in DC with his family and spends much of his free time at hockey rinks across the Mid-Atlantic watching his son play in goal.
Why I Teach at Siena: I was struck by how much the faculty and staff love being part of the school community, how engaged the students are in their learning, and how kind they are to one another. I want to be part of a school with a strong sense of self and a vibrant culture, two things that I felt immediately at Siena.
