Che Simmons
Elementary Teacher

Che Simmons, elementary teacher, has over twenty years of experience in independent and public school elementary education, including teaching 4th grade at Imagine Southeast Public Charter School in Washington, DC, teaching and supervising programs in New Orleans and Philadelphia, and teaching 4th-7th grade in the Oakland and San Francisco Unified School Districts. He earned his B.A. in Sociology from Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ. Che has been committed to addressing issues of diversity throughout his career as an educator, serving as an Affinity Group Leader at the NAIS People of Color Conference and leading small group conversations with educators from around the country. He helped establish a schoolwide diversity committee at Isidore Newman School in New Orleans and also convened the LGBTQIA+ Fellowship at the Broad Street Ministry in Philadelphia.

Why I Teach At Siena: I teach at Siena because what we do works. I see how students grow in confidence as they learn, and then implement, the strategies we teach them.
