Stefanie Hjalmervik
Reading Teacher and Reading Department Chair

Stefanie Hjalmervik, reading teacher and reading department chair, received her B.A. in Elementary Education at the University of Iowa, her M.Ed. in Reading Education at Georgia State University, and a Master's Certificate in Dyslexia and Language-Based Learning Disorders from Landmark Outreach Program. Over the last 20 years, Stefanie has worked in a variety of public and private schools, in Georgia, Florida, and Japan. She taught most recently at The Congressional School as the Learning Specialist and Coordinator of the Summer Academy. She is an IMSE Orton-Gillingham-trained reading specialist and classroom teacher. She specializes in using the Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, and Lindamood-Bell programs to teach students with language-based learning differences in Pre-K through 8th grade. When she is not teaching, she is enjoying family sporting events or reading. 

Why I Teach At Siena: Learning and teaching new approaches is my passion; being surrounded by others who are equally passionate about teaching students makes this an ideal place for me.
